Obituary for John Paul Allen

John Paul  Allen
John Paul Allen passed away on Sunday, January 28 in the loving arms of his wife. John was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on May 1, 1941. After graduating from Saint Mary’s of the Plains in Dodge City, he married Mary Ann Gunzelman.

After working in hospital administration for 5 years, he worked the rest of his life as a banking consultant. John gave seminars all over the United States until he retired in 2001.

He was a loving husband, father and friend. Preceding him in death were his parents, Olen and Margarite (Seitnater) and his brother Chris.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann; brother Denny; daughters Jennifer (Chris) Cole, Heather (Jerry) Vinduska, Stephanie (Steve) Noyes; sons Michael (Rafaela) and Mark. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren: Philip, Katie, Vince, Grace, Maggie, Mikayla, Malia, Abby, Paige, Ella, Sarah, Maddie, Samuel, Chloe and Lily.

He was privileged to be under the care of the Salem Home in Hillsboro, Kansas for the past 5 1/2 years where he was loved by all. Thanks and blessings to all those there who cared for him and tended to his needs.

Recitation of the Rosary will be at Smith Mortuary in Derby on Tuesday, January 30 at 6:30pm. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, also in Derby. A luncheon at the church will follow the service.
