Obituary for Jana McCabe

Jana McCabe
Jana May McCabe, 72, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018. She was born May 1, 1945 to Maurice and Dana (Jorgensen) Williams in Wellington, KS.
Our hearts are less full with Jana’s passing. The center of Jana’s being was her faith, family and friends. Whomever she was with and whatever they were doing was exactly where she wanted to be. Day trips, lunch outings, book and birthday clubs, bible study and simply visiting with dear friends and family nourished her soul. She savored finding the perfect greeting card or gift to beautifully wrap and share (and she thoroughly enjoyed receiving gifts!). Jana enjoyed peaceful moments on her porch swing surrounded by the beauty of Bill’s garden. Her life is wonderfully celebrated through countless pictures, journals, scrap books and letters. Jana was a life-long educator retiring from Swaney Elementary in May 2005 and enjoyed staying current on her former students’ life journeys. Jana will be missed. Her life is to be celebrated and her absence is to be mourned. We endeavor to remember her as we knew her by living a life of which she would be proud.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Jana is survived by her husband of 35 years, Bill; children, Jeff (Cindy) Yoakum, Jennifer (Naaman) Ritchie, Scott (Martha) McCabe, Kristin (Shannon) Friday, and Mike (Beth) McCabe; grandchildren, Sophie, Kieran, Sally, Parker, Sammy, Frank, Will, Izzy, Nick, Gabby, and Simon; brother, John (Martha) Williams, niece, Janol Hudson, and nephew, Bart (Leslie) Williams; brother-in-law, Tom (Mary) McCabe; sister-in-law, Janet (A.J.) Schilling; and several cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews and many wonderful friends.
